Matt Nagy Is Not Giving Up Play Calling Duties

The Chicago Bears are the circus of the NFL. Is Mitch Trubisky hurt or did they finally bench him because he stinks? We don’t really know and the things that come out of Chicago continue to be mixed messages. Matt Nagy claims Trubisky came out of the Rams game because of a hip injury. We will if it is a phantom injury. Nevertheless, if you think that Nagy is going to give up play calling to spark the offense, think again.

“I have zero ego and I have zero care of giving play-call duties to somebody else,” Nagy said, via NBCSportsChicago.com. “I really do not care about that, and if that’s what we feel like from going through it that that’s what we need to do, then I would do that, I really would.”

I kind of have to side with Nagy here. He got Trubisky to a 12-4 season. This man has done everything in his power to make this puppy works. Trubisky flat out can’t play. Now I do blame Nagy for taking the job in the first place. Nagy was going to get a job anyway. I don’t know why these coaches grab the first open job all the time. Some people have options. You signed up for Trubisky so that’s on you. I have no sympathy in that regard.

Nagy is probably the one person you keep between Ryan Pace and Trubisky. Doug Pederson is working in Philadelphia. There’s no reason to believe Nagy wouldn’t do great things with a quarterback that actually has talent. He just doesn’t have one right now. It remains to be seen who that next guy will be because they have no draft picks or cap space. The Bears pushed their chips to the center with no franchise quarterback in place.
