Green Bay Packers head coach, Matt LaFleur is a joke for his play-calling in the NFC Championship against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With a little over two minutes remaining in the game on 4th and Goal from the eight-yard line, LaFleur decided to kick a field goal instead of giving Aaron Rodgers another shot at the end zone. That decision proved to be fatal as the Packers never got the ball back and lost the game.
However, the fun doesn’t stop there. After the game, LaFleur does this weird walk back on the decision to kick the field goal.
We knew we needed to get a stop, and I thought we were going to have a stop there at the end, but we got called for [defensive pass interference] and it didn’t work out. I think anytime something doesn’t work out, do you regret it? Sure, but we’re always going to be process-driven here, and the way our defense was battling, the way our defense was playing, it felt like it was the right decision to do. It just didn’t work out.
Matt LaFleur
Here’s the issue with this horrible decision. First, you have Aaron Rodgers the soon-to-be-named league MVP. Second, you have Davante Adams arguably the best receiver in the league. Third, you’re giving the ball back to Tom freaking Brady.
The Packers’ defense may have been playing well in the fourth quarter. However, how stupid can you be to think Brady is going to go three and out and give you the ball right back. You’re not playing the Chicago Bears, the other team has the smartest quarterback in the NFL.
Nevertheless, LaFleur can’t walk the streets of Green Bay anymore after that call. That’s what happens when your coach has no spine and is scared of his own shadow. Believe me, Packer fans I feel your pain. This was the same shit I had to put up in Tom Coughlin’s later years.
Furthermore, LaFleur may have just sealed the deal on Rodgers returning next year. If I were Rodgers I’d be so done with this organization. They gave up after last year’s NFC Championship and had no hope of getting to another Super Bowl, because of things like this.
