Mark Sanchez Joins ESPN As College Football Analyst

How much publicity does USC get for rarely winning National Championships? The Trojans haven’t won a title since 2004, yet all of their former players seem to land jobs. Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart work for Fox Sports as part of their college football pregame and postgame coverage. Now ESPN had to dip their toe in that water. ESPN has announced that they are hiring Mark Sanchez to be part of their college football set.

Andrew Marchand of The New York Post reported the following:

“Quarterback Mark Sanchez is putting away his helmet and heading to ABC/ESPN to be a college football analyst, The Post has learned.

Sources tell The Post the former Jets quarterback’s main job will be in ABC’s lead college football studio, where he will join Kevin Negandhi and Jon Vilma. Sanchez is replacing Mack Brown, who left to coach North Carolina.”

So Sanchez isn’t going to be on the main College Gameday set? This is the issue I have with it. What’s the point in this hire then? I can’t remember the last time I sat down and said to myself “God, I need to turn on the ABC college pregame show to see what’s going on”. Never has happened. Not once. I can’t imagine that has ever happened to you either.

Marchand also added that Fox interviewed Sanchez. They liked him but didn’t have a spot open. Brady Quinn and Urban Meyer are also on the Fox crew. Once Meyer gets back into coaching next year, maybe Sanchez is a candidate to join his other USC buddies. I have no idea if Sanchez is capable of this job. I hope he doesn’t fumble his words like he fumbles footballs. Let’s be honest. Is Sanchez known for anything outside of the butt fumble?
