Star LSU receiver Malik Nabers arrested for illegal carrying of a weapon
Malik Nabers, a star wide receiver at Louisiana State University, has been arrested in New Orleans for a weapons charge, according to WAFB.
Records show that Nabers was booked into the Orleans Parish Jail on Tuesday and was officially charged Nabers with illegally carrying a weapon. Nabers was released Tuesday on his own recognizance, meaning he was not required to post a bond.
Nabers was arrested around 9 p.m. on Monday night, but he was not eventually booked into jail until just before 2 a.m. on Tuesday, according to Orleans Parish Jail records and WAFB.
LSU hasn’t issued any comments on Nabers’ arrest at this time, though a comment on Nabers will likely come within the next few days.
Nabers is one of LSU’s standout players from this past season. He posted 72 catches for 1,017 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Entering his third season with the Tigers, Nabers will look to become one of the best receivers in college football. With quarterback Jayden Daniels and head coach Brian Kelly, Nabers will look to excel with the Tigers next season, as the team has high hopes after a promising 2022 campaign with Kelly in his opening year with LSU.
Nabers exploded in his final four games last season, proving himself as LSU’s true No. 1 receiver. He had over 100 yards in three out of his last four games. I expect Nabers to be among the nation’s top receivers in his next season and becoming a top breakout candidate as well.
Coming out of high school, Nabers was ranked as the 251st best prospect and 39th ranked receiver in the 2021 class.
