Mac Jones Receives Praise From Patriots WR Jakobi Meyers

The football world is fixated on the progress of the five first-round quarterbacks with their respective teams as rookie minicamps and OTAs get underway around the NFL. One quarterback who has already received some praise is Mac Jones of the New England Patriots.

The former Alabama quarterback burst onto the scene last season after sitting behind Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa and he never looked back. Jones threw for 4,500 yards, 41 TDs, and only 4 INTs on his way to being named a Heisman Trophy finalist. This season, Jones is in the best situation of any rookie quarterback, as the tutelage from legendary head coach Bill Belichick and presumed starter and former MVP Cam Newton will allow Jones to ease his way into the Patriots system.

Jones is apparently doing well in Foxborough, as he has already received praise from one of his wide receivers. Patriots wide out Jakobi Meyers said of Jones,

“We haven’t been in a game yet, but from the couple of days we have had together, he’s been definitely easy to work with,” Meyers said. He probably won’t run past everybody, so throwing a catchable ball is definitely something that’s got him to where he is and he’s blessed to have the arm talent he has. It’s definitely nice working with him.”

This camaraderie is a great sign for Patriots fans and for Jones. Not only can Jones play but according to Meyers, he is easy to work with as well, meaning that his character and attitude are already making a difference. Jones entered the league in a proven system and with the opportunities to learn from Newtown and Brian Hoyer, and he seems to be adjusting well to life in the NFL.
