I feel like this is almost too easy of a choice for the Most Improved Player award going into the 2019-2020 season. I love Lonzo Ball, guys! He is a dying breed man, a true point guard. Lonzo doesn’t need to score 25 PPG like some of these overrated bozos like Russell Westbrook. Lonzo tries to make his teammates better he dishes the ball, he’s getting rebounds and he’s efficient. The guy knows how to run the court and dictate the pace of the game which in any sport is a must. In Lonzo’s rookie campaign he played in 52 games putting up 10.2 PPG, 6.9 RPG, and 7.2 APG. Those aren’t terrible numbers, man! They’re actually pretty damn solid. What I personally want in a point guard is selflessness. Someone who cares about winning and helping his teammates grow and get opportunities to succeed.
Last year Lonzo went through an injury-plagued year where he got shut down halfway through the season. Also playing with Lebron is never good for anyone’s stats. His stats from last season took a slight hit 9.9 PPG, 5.3 RPG, and 5.4 APG. Still not horrible for a 21-year-old kid! I feel like him getting the opportunity to team up with Zion is going to give him the chance to continue to grow as a point guard. He’s just got to develop his shot. He needs to be more aggressive in getting to the basket and less risky in his decision making. I think this next year he will take the next step in his career and start to actually score some buckets. Lonzo wins the 2019-2020 MIP Award with a slash of 17 PPG, 7 RPG, and 8 APG. Take this to the bank. Don Chach OUT!!!
