One thing as a Spurs fan that I was used to over the years was that the rookies normally didn’t play. Even 2nd and 3rd year guys didn’t play sometimes. That was for good reason as we had plenty of players to start over the young talent. That is the opposite here. Precious Achiuwa needs to be playing more. Let the guy loose, he is nasty and fits that Miami Heat grit.

Precious Achiuwa is already becoming a fan-favorite in Miami. The rookie Center plays 15 minutes a game and has at least 7 PPG on 60% shooting and close to 5 RPG. That’s not bad at all. He has a rate of getting a bucket every two minutes of game time and a rebound every 3 minutes. I’d like to see him play more, for more production.

My biggest issue right now is that Kelly Olynyk gets 26 minutes, for my not-so-math people, that’s 11 minutes more than Precious Achiuwa, basically a whole quarter. Surely, his stats should reflect why he gets so many more than Precious, right? Wrong. Kelly Olynyk averages 10 PPG on 45% shooting, and barely over 5 RPG. That means he has a rate of getting a bucket at a slower rate at worse efficiency. He also needs 11 more minute to average about the same amount of rebounds as Precious. What are we doing here?

Don’t give me that shit about Kelly Olynyk stretches the floor for the Heat with his 3 point shooting. that’s great and all, but the Heat have plenty of shooters to fill that void. Precious would bring some more nastiness to this Heat squad if he played more than Olynyk. A intimidating trio of Jimmy Butler, Precious, and Bam Adebayo to knock fools around would be worth it. Stop holding him back, let him loose Coach Spo.
