I have access to a Paramount+ account finally. I just did a review on Tulsa King. As soon as I finished watching that series, I directed my attention to Landman. I have to say, insert the “I was unfamiliar with your game” meme here because this streaming platform actually has some sneaky good TV shows.
As always, I’ll do my best to limit the spoilers. Here’s what you need to know about Landman.
Before I start, season two is already in the works. As of publication, there are ten episodes out right now but each episode is like an hour long so there is still plenty to binge.
I loved this show. It’s not the GOAT but it’s a really quality show. I don’t even know where to start. This show was so good that I started googling the most random questions about oil. Before watching this, I had zero fascination about oil. 20 minutes into the first episode, I was ready to quit on it. Don’t do that. It’s a slow build but boy, it heats up fast.
Thornton’s character, Tommy Norris, is basically a glorified babysitter watching over an oil company. He’s a total miserable prick but you grow to love him at the same time. There’s a mix of everything; lawyers, cartel, football, etc.
Billy Bob Thornton is hilarious. The show is offensive in the best way possible. The wife and daughter are both hilarious. Jon Hamm is even it in sparingly. The characters are really well done in this show but Tommy Norris takes the cake. His character is just so entertaining.
Also, shout out Jerry Jones. He makes an appearance towards the end of season one and his scene is absolutely electric. Word on the street is it took him just one take too. I’d say it’s worth watching this show based on his scene alone. It was seriously absolutely incredible.
