Kyler Murray needs to take the next step according to Arizona Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill. Murray is entering his third year in the NFL and after the messed up off-season in 2020, the Cardinals are looking for Murray to continue to improve.
Bidwill went on local radio in Arizona and laid out what he wanted to see from Murray.
“I want to see the next jump. I think we all want to see the next jump. He made a big step forward between his rookie year and his second year. We really want to see that next level, and hopefully that’s going to come in the offseason, where we’re able to get together and see that development and the connection with his receiver group, with the offensive line. Doing some of the work they hopefully can be doing at the training facility with a more normalized OTA and offseason later in the spring when the vaccinations are out more broadly. But I fully expect (improvement), and I know he expects the same. He’s got a fire in his belly. We’ve all seen it. He’s got a competitive spirit where he wants to win, and he wants to win now. I love that. That’s what I want. That’s what I expect, and that’s what he expects.”

The Cardinals’ looked like they could win the division in 2020, especially after Murray pulled off the end-of-game heroics against the Bills to improve to 6-3. Their lack of off-seasons didn’t seem to really affect them to open the season, but Bidwill did give that as an excuse for their fall off at the end of the season. More time with DeAndre Hopkins and the other receivers can only help Murray step his game up.
