Under Maintenance
We deeply apologize for interrupting your reading but Vendetta is currently undergoing some important maintenance! You may experience some layout shifts, slow loading times and dififculties in navigating.
Week 1 everyone loves to overreact to what happens. Marvin Harrison Jr. is a generational wide receiver prospect and better days are ahead after catching one pass for four yards in his debut. The problem is his quarterback lacks self-awareness and that’s been an on going problem with Kyler Murray.
The Cardinals quarterback essentially says it’s not his job to get the ball to Harrison… which is just wrong but we’ll get to that after I share his comments.
“As a quarterback, obviously, you’re going through your reads,” Murray said, according to Craig Morgan of PHNX. “Sometimes the ball goes to him, but that’s not my job.
“I have a sense and a feel for guys when they don’t get the ball and when they are getting the ball, but I leave that up to (offensive coordinator) Drew (Petzing). He tells me, ‘Don’t worry about that type of stuff. Just keep playing your game and get the ball to where the ball is supposed to go.'”
I understand what he’s saying but the comments are poorly executed. No, Murray is not the offensive coordinator, but there is no reason to throw Drew Petzing under the bus because Harrison didn’t get the ball enough.
This has always been the problem with Murray. All the talent in the world. Has no ounce of the eye of the tiger in him. It’s too late to teach the guy how to bark better. It’s just not in him.
