Outfielder Kyle Tucker Is Incredibly Underrated

It’s no secret that the Houston Astros are perhaps the scariest team in baseball. Throughout that roster are guys who could make a big impact in important games. Many don’t get the credit they deserve due to them being Astros and all the negativity surrounding them. One of these guys is outfielder Kyle Tucker.

As a Dodgers fan, it’s hard for me to say this, but the 2022 Houston Astros are a different team than 2017. I firmly believe they have everything needed to win a World Series, especially without the usage of trash cans or buzzers.

Kyle Tucker is a vital piece. Just when folks assumed the Astros were on the verge of getting old, you have this new generation of stars in place, setting up Houston for long-term success. Alongside Tucker are gifted players like Yordan Álvarez, Cristian Javier, and Jeremy Peña – all of who are 25 and younger.

Tucker proved his worth once again in the 2022 season. He was second amongst offensive players in WAR on the Astros at 5.2. Tucker led the team in Runs Batted In with 107 while crushing 30 home runs. He also was a part of the 20-20 club. It’s crazy to say but some may consider this a down year for Kyle.

Last season, he slashed .294/.359/.557 with 30 homers and an epic OPS+ of 147. He finished 20th in MVP voting despite being tied for 10th in the American League for WAR.

Do not take this lightly. Kyle Tucker is on the verge of being a superstar. It’s unfair to alienate this sort of talent because of something that occurred when he was still in the Minors. Heck, he didn’t even play his first full season until 2021 (technically 2020 but 60 games).

There will come a day people will look past the cheating scandal and acknowledge that the Houston Astros are a masterclass for Postseason success. It’s fair to say the World Series runs through Minute Maid Park, and Kyle Tucker is along for the ride. Let’s see what he does against Philly.
