Kyle Monangai 2025 NFL Draft Profile

I won’t lie, this is one of my favorites. If you have been reading the stock report notes over the last few years, you know the former Big 10 rushing king back in 2023 does something for me.

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 1Week 5Rate Bowl

Monangai, 23, was a three star prospect out of the state of New Jersey playing for the heralded Don Bosco Prep. The redshirt senior checks in at 5-foot-8, 211, and is the second all-time leading rusher in the history of Rutgers football behind only Ray Rice.

The first two years of Monangai, he was essentially a reserve. The last two years, we’re talking about a guy who rushed for over 1,200 yards in each of those campaigns and really put this program on his back. Not a ton of receiving production but this dude is a bowling ball of hell that nobody wants to tackle.

The Combine is what it is. No, Monangai doesn’t have crazy breakout speed, but that’s not his game. A 4.60 isn’t ideal, but this is a pure power back who runs low to the ground. It’s one cut and go. He does a fantastic job absorbing contact and running forward. His long speed might not be there, but his pure cuts more than passed the test for me.

I don’t think all testing stuff does it justice for who he is. It’s the intangibles that make you fall in love with this guy. Monangai was a team captain, had zero career fumbles while receiving a heavy workload, and was named a First-team All-Big Ten this past year. I’d argue his 2023 was even better when he wasn’t nominated for that.

Ball security is job security, and this dude was as consistent as it gets on Saturdays. You knew exactly what you were getting from this guy. He was going to simply do his job, and you had to bring it to get this guy on the ground.

I think Kyle Monangai is a middle round prospect. I doubt he goes this high, but I promise you this will give you Gus Edwards vibes down the road. A guy who nobody respected during this process, and then suddenly became one of the most efficient runners in the league while running with power. I just think Monangai will be better than Gus Edwards. Good player that someone will be happy they pulled the trigger.
