After being traded from the Washington Wizards to the Boston Celtics, Kristaps Porzingis is committed to staying in Boston. The big man has inked a two-year deal worth $60 million to stay in Boston, as first reported by Chris Haynes.
One of the biggest and best moves this offseason, comes from the city of Boston. As all of you know by now, the team traded for the 7-foot-3 big man last week. Well, keeping him around was a big time deal for the Celtics and the rest of the organization long term. Now, they have finally done it.
The Celtics have finally granted Porzingis’ wish of staying with the team long-term, which he had expressed earlier. Surprisingly, Porzingis didn’t command more money from Boston. With a championship at stake, he seemingly took a pay cut for his new squad.
This might be because of the potential signing of fellow Boston star Jaylen Brown, his new teammate. Brown is eligible for the super-max contract this free agency, and the Celtics want him back badly.
Brown has been linked to the Celtics for his entire career and with the roster being juiced up with Jayson Tatum, Porzingis and more, this could be the best chance the Celtics have at a title.
Porzingis adds a great level of perimeter shooting to the Celtics lineup, who struggled at times from deep, especially in the playoffs. Now with a 40% three point shooter in Porzingis, the Celtics can spread the floor way more for their big men and guards.
The ceiling is endless for this Celtics team. Let’s just see if they can come together.
