I’m on the movie kick and while I was scrolling through the Netflix library, I noticed King Arthur: Legend of the Sword was recently added. Maybe it wasn’t recently added but I recently watched it, so take that. We’re back with more movie reviews because everything is content. Should you give King Arthur: Legend of the Sword a try?
Truthfully, I knew nothing about the story of King Arthur prior to watching the movie. However, I’m not sure it would have made much of a difference here because the movie kicked ass. Charlie Hunnam did a great job as King Arthur and the entire story was engaging.
It’s easy to get spoilers here. Shit, I knew nothing going in and even I knew it had something to do with him being able to pull a sword from stone. I’m not sure why but it sort of reminded me of a better version of Beowulf. Maybe that’s really far off but it gave me flashbacks to that.
I’m not really into the fantasy stuff but it was balanced enough to where the fighting, story, and acting made for a great film. Was it the greatest thing I’ve ever seen? No, but I have zero regrets watching this movie.
I don’t have much else to add here. The main character truly starts from the bottom and works his way up. Best of all, he seems like a damn smart king and one worthy of leading. A truly happy ending story.
