Kevin Burkhardt ‘hasn’t spent 10 f—king seconds’ Thinking About Tom Brady as Potential Booth Partner

Kevin Burkhardt is all business in preparation for Super Bowl LVII. When the media asked about Burkhardt’s potential matchup with new Fox poster boy Tom Brady, Burkhardt was quite blunt about how he is focusing on the task at hand- and rightfully so.

“The reality is other than being asked in every media interview that I have done, and I mean this on or off the record, I have not thought about Tom Brady as a broadcaster for 10 f—king seconds,” Burkhardt said in an interview with Sports Business Journal.

The average Fox Sports viewer isn’t surprised by what was said, but rather by who said it. Burkhardt is known for being mild-mannered and friendly to the audience.

We didn’t know when Brady would decide to join Fox Sports officially, until today when he announced he would take his role in the Fall 2024.

Tom Brady signed a massive 10-year, $375 million contract with Fox Sports in May of 2022. That contract is one that will force him into the lead analyst role, likely in color commentary. It’s also a deal that will likely drive Greg Olsen, Burkhardt’s current partner out of the lead analyst role.

Olsen will likely have to find a new job, though it seems likely that he would remain with Fox Sports as an analyst with a different partner.

Everyone at Fox Sports from the interns to the head executives understand the stickiness of this situation. Fox Sports certainly wants the viewer to focus more on the upcoming Super Bowl rather than a personality switch.

“We know the situation, but it’s not something that we’re even thinking about,” Fox Sports Director Rich Russo said. “It’s all about what we’re doing now. You just have no idea what’s going to happen.”

Russo sounds like Burkhardt in this quote. Except … maybe more friendly for the PR and family-friendly ear.

“I am focused on the next game, which — oh, by the way — happens to be the biggest one of my career,” Burkhardt said in an interview with NY Post’s Steve Serby. “That’s how I’ve handled it the whole way, and I sure as s–t ain’t gonna change now on the precipice of a Super Bowl.”

Kevin Burkhardt will kill it in the Super Bowl because he is a professional. Hopefully, if someone asks him again about Brady, this time he will keep his cool.
