Michigan State running back, Kenneth Walker III is without a doubt the RB1 in the 2022 NFL Draft Class. East Lansing’s newest star is the total package at running back, possessing all the qualities to be a bell cow at the NFL level. The Heisman hopeful currently leads all of college football in rushing yards with 1,483 and 17 touchdowns. Walker’s illustrious season continues on as does his draft stock.
The 5-foot-10 210-pounds junior already has the size of your standard NFL running back. Getting more into the specifics, Kenneth Walker is a do-it-all back with pass-catching chops who can run between the tackles. Getting more into it, Walker has that shiftiness and wiggle that you just can’t teach. Here against Maryland, he looks defenders look silly after getting to the second level.
His elite vision paired with his insane elusiveness is something to marvel at. Here against Maryland, he demonstrates the patience as the hole develops and then makes his own magic. On this play alone he makes three men miss, turning what would be a loss of yards into a 15-yard gain.
His one cut ability between the tackles is something that translates better to the NFL level. A quick jump cut before exploding through and making men miss at the second level is something all NFL teams look for in a three-down running back.
And if all that still wasn’t enough to convince you on the talent of Kenneth Walker, just look at his breakaway speed here against Northwestern.
There are other good running backs in this 2022 class like Isaiah Spiller and Zach Charbonnet, but Walker is just a better back than them. Running back isn’t a position teams prioritize anymore, however, if anyone were to sneak into the first round, it would be Kenneth Walker. A team like the Buffalo Bills have had deficiencies at the running back position. The addition of Kenneth Walker would take Josh Allen and their offense to another level.
