Don’t eat the Cheese as Kam did on Miles Sanders. Pick Kenneth Gainwell instead. He costs half the price, is a prime breakout candidate, is probably the better player, and is healthy. That’s about all there is to it but I’m required to write at least 300 words (I don’t make the rules) so I’ll tickle your fancy a little while longer.
The Eagles will continue to find ways to not put Sanders on the field. What can go wrong for the Sanders fantasy owners, will go wrong. As long as Sanders is in Philadelphia, he’s going to be on the cheese list until further notice. Sanders can clamor for more touches all he wants but it’s never going to be in the cards.
Even if there was a chance that Sanders was going to really emerge as the guy, that simulation of the Universe is gone. The reports on the former Penn State product do not look good right now. It would appear Sanders is dealing with a pretty serious hamstring injury and if that’s the case, you may as seek alternatives now. Even if Sanders is ready for Week 1, the Eagles are not going to run him into the ground. It will be back to business as usual.
Sanders had 137 carries a year ago. Rookie Gainwell had 68 and that number isn’t going down in 2022. I think Nick Sirianni really likes Gainwell and he’s been very good in Preseason action. Boston Scott is also going to factor into the backfield only muddying this backfield further.
The more I watch Kenneth Gainwell, the more I really buy into him making it. Has real 4.44 speed. Is over 200 pounds so isn’t a small back. Can do damage in the receiving game. I’m not sure what everybody is missing here but this is the guy I want in the Eagles backfield for fantasy. If Gainwell pops, that’s a guy that swings the tide in your favor.
Long term leagues, I definitely want Gainwell next three years over Sanders. No question about it.
