Kadyn Proctor Transfers To Iowa
Alabama is bleeding players after Nick Saban announced his retirement. The Crimson Tide just lost Caleb Downs yesterday. Today they lost starting left tackle Kadyn Proctor. After entering the transfer portal, Proctor has picked his new landing spot. He’s coming home and will sign with the Iowa Hawkeyes.
247 Sports was the first to report the news:
Proctor, a rising sophomore, was a mega recruit during the 2023 cycle. He was the number one tackle prospect in the country and checks in at 6-foot-7, 360. He started every game for Alabama as a freshman. Not exactly a small feat at a program like that. He also landed on the All-Freshman SEC team.
The news of Proctor landing in Iowa shouldn’t be surprising. The Hawkeyes were going to land him out of high school. That was before Saban stepped in. Proctor only attended Alabama for Saban. He’s originally from the state of Iowa and now will return home.
Iowa isn’t the college football power that Alabama is. However, they do have a pretty strong track record for producing NFL offensive lineman. That part can’t be lost in the equation here. Tristan Wirfs and Tyler Linderbaum are two recent examples and both are dominating at the NFL level.
This is a huge get for Iowa. Being competitive in the Big 10 is becoming harder and harder with conference expansion. Protecting the quarterback is half the battle and the Hawkeyes landed a stud to do exactly that.
