Kadyn Proctor expected to enter transfer portal
Alabama left tackle Kadyn Proctor is expected to enter the transfer portal, according to Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports. Proctor started at left tackle as a true freshman.
In the 2023 recruiting cycle, Proctor was the No. 9 player in the class and the No. 1 offensive tackle, according to 247 Sports’ Composite Rankings.
Alabama has now lost a pair of former top-ten recruits who were impact starters in their first year of collegiate football since Nick Saban’s retirement, with the first was starting safety Caleb Downs.
Proctor will be a highly-touted talent out of the transfer portal. As a starter at Alabama, Proctor was one of the best players on the offensive line. In the future, the 6-foot-7, 360-pound, tackle should only improve. He has three years of eligibility remaining.
Due to the coaching turnover at Alabama, Proctor’s transfer will come without penalty. Essentially, this transfer will not count as his one free transfer, so if he opts to transfer in the future, he will not be forced to sit out a year.
Iowa is the early favorite to land Proctor. As a recruit, he was originally committed to Iowa before eventually flipping to Alabama late in the process. Not to mention, he is a Des Moines, Iowa, native. Iowa has already received three crystal balls to land Proctor.
It is rare to see a former five-star offensive lineman in the transfer portal. It would not be a surprise to see other universities make a play for Proctor. That is the type of transfer portal addition that can greatly shift a team’s future.
