Justin Jefferson Finishes 2022 As WR1, So There Is No Apology

I actually can’t believe I have to write this article but there’s always that one person, isn’t there. I can’t stand the blasphemy that’s been put out there simply for our CEO to protect his ego and arrogantly justify his incorrect preseason take. Trey wrote this blog and ranted for two minutes calling out the Justin Jefferson truthers for daring to be correct, I guess.

Look, you wanted an apology from us Justin Jefferson WR1 people, right? Well, here you go.

You want to know why I feel so passionately about this? It’s because he’s simply cherrypicked the only scoring format that suits his narrative. Specifically, the only scoring format that has Davante Adams as the WR1 over Jefferson, one that makes sure to reward touchdowns, but a catch is worth nothing.

Ah yes, it’s not only a prehistoric standard scoring league, but also one with a touchdown premium. There might be 30 or so leagues playing with those settings around the world — 30 might even be generous to be honest.

Jefferson is the WR1 in every major type of scoring league. PPR? Yup. Half-PPR? Yup. And even standard? Yessir. Trey’s league with standard and touchdown premiums? No. Thereby, that makes Adams the WR1!! WOO-HOO. Sounds logical, right?

I mean at a certain point, you just kind of have to give credit. Trey has revealed to us an incredibly overpowered strategy I can’t lie.

So, let’s say I touted Nick Chubb to finish the season as a top-three fantasy running back. Well, if you look at rankings right now, he’s not, but you just have to modify the scoring a little here and there, tinker with some settings and POOF! In a standard league, with first down premium as well as PPC (point per carry), Nick Chubb has finished as the RB2! Look at me! I am the greatest fantasy analyst alive!

Or rather, as some might say, “I am the best and there will never be anyone better. The truth of the matter is I’m better at this than any other person that exists.”

Well, sure you are Trey. When we all use your specific settings and scoring that maybe .05% of fantasy leagues in the world use, then sure, Adams is the WR1.

In fact, the funniest part is, he’s not even the WR2 in PPR or Half-PPR leagues. That honor goes to Tyreek Hill. I’m sure someone out there had Hill as their WR1 and could totally find a league with extra touchdown premiums and long touchdown bonuses to justify their preseason thoughts.

But that’s just wrong — journalism malpractice even.

For starters, my thoughts are valid because I am smart. I haven’t taken a single Northwestern course yet, either. But more importantly I ask you, how can you stand with dignity and be proud of defending your take like this?

Your justification is built on technicalities and essentially a lie. You never once mention the exact scoring setting that he was the WR1 in within your blog and to me that’s blasphemous. That spread of misinformation is the exact thing that Vendetta was built to end but here you are.

I think I’ve made my point clear. I don’t claim to be the best fantasy analyst out there, but I know how to own my wins and take my losses. I apologized to Garrett for my Pat Freiermuth mistreatment. I’ve celebrated my Mixon victory plenty. As a Justin Jefferson WR1 truther, I did win. You lost.

You don’t get to just make your own rules and cheat other people out so you can boast about it. That’s not how it works and that’s why I’ve written this blog.

Signed,

Aarav Raina (Future Student at Northwestern University)
