I’m writing this blog in response to Don Chach’s article claiming that Jalen Hurts is going to win the Heisman Trophy. Now I could side with Trevor Lawrence or Tua Tagovailoa, but that’s too easy. If you’re looking for a better value bet to win the Heisman, Justin Fields is the right call. Unlike Hurts, Fields is actually talented. Justin Fields is going to put his name on the map and establish himself as a top tier quarterback.
I don’t care what Justin Fields did in Week 1. Yes, he lit up Florida Atlantic. Who cares? Here’s what I do know. The Heisman Trophy is about to get named the Lincoln Riley award. Any quarterback he gets puts up numbers. Jalen Hurts isn’t a legitimate NFL quarterback prospect either. Not that it matters to win the award. Still, there’s fatigue there. How many times are we going to watch another Oklahoma guy win? If Hurts does win, he should hand the Trophy to Lincoln Riley and never accept it back from him.
The Heisman is about storylines while dominating on the field. Well, Justin Fields have everyone beat there. Justin Fields won the Elite 11 competition in high school beating Trevor Lawrence. Fields
What happens when Fields put up monster numbers in a Conference with real defenses and goes undefeated in the Big 10 putting Ohio State back in the playoff? Fields will win the Heisman. Fields
Are we sure Oklahoma is even going to win the Big 12? Ohio State is so in the head of Jim Harbaugh, that I’d be shocked if Michigan wins the Conference. I don’t trust Shea Patterson to beat Justin Fields in a game of cornhole, let alone football. Justin Fields is going to win the Heisman Trophy.
