Julio Jones’ Fantasy Value Tanks In Tennessee

The trade is done. Julio Jones is now a member of the Tennessee Titans. Fantasy is a much different ball game from real life. The real life version of this trade stinks. The fantasy impact… also stinks. The grass is not always greener on the other side. It couldn’t be more true in this instance. If I were Julio, I would have vetoed this landing spot. His fantasy impact tanks in Tennessee compared to Atlanta.

A: Julio said he wanted a “strong armed quarterback“. Got some bad news, bud. You’re not getting that in Ryan Tannehill. Matt Ryan is aging but Tannehill’s horse power is very much on par here. There’s not a big arm talent discrepancy. Tannehill is fine but not close to an elite level franchise quarterback.

B: This is still a run first offense. Derrick Henry had 378 carries a year ago. Last year Todd Gurley had 195. Point being… the Titans run the ball a hell of a lot more than the Falcons do. Translation: fewer targets = fewer fantasy points.

C: I hate to break it to the Julio fans. He’s awesome. First ballot Hall of Famer. No question about it. Maybe my favorite receiver of this generation. He’s not the best one on this Titans team. AJ Brown is. Brown is heading into his third NFL season and coming off his first 1,000 yard season. Brown is an emerging superstar. The reality is Julio isn’t in his prime anymore.
