JuJu Smith-Schuster signed a one-year deal to play with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022. However, before this Smith-Schuster was a proud member of the black and yellow. The Steelers drafted him in the second round of the 2017 draft. He had an overall good five-year career with Pittsburgh.
He made the pro bowl in 2018 when he finished with 111 receptions, 1,426 yards, and seven touchdowns. Smith-Schuster had another good year in 2020 when he ended with 97 receptions, 831 yards, and nine touchdowns. Unfortunately, in 2021 he got injured in week five and the injury turned out to be season-ending.
Smith-Schuster is now a part of the Chiefs’ organization but this did not stop him from visiting Pittsburgh recently. He met with fans at a charity fundraiser. He signed autographs and took pictures. Smith-Schuster was speaking to KDKA and when asked about coming back to Pittsburgh he stated,
“It was just very important. It was huge to come back”

He followed this up by saying,
“I spent five years here, to come back to the city where I started my career… I didn’t have time to say bye to the fans. What we’re doing today is really cool.”

Without a doubt, he cares about the city and the fans of Pittsburgh. Smith-Schuster is still a relatively young wide receiver at the age of 25. He is on a one-year prove-it deal. If he can be effective on the Chiefs and be productive on the field he should be able to get a bigger multi-year contract after the season.
Smith-Schuster will be playing with arguably the best quarterback in the NFL in Patrick Mahomes. Smith-Schuster will be another weapon for offensive guru head coach Andy Reid to use in his offense. Also, the Kansas City Chiefs lost all-pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill this off-season. This means there will be plenty of targets to distribute among the Chiefs’ wide receivers and all-pro tight end Travis Kelce.
Smith-Schuster will have a great chance to display his abilities on the Chiefs as well as compete for a Super Bowl. Furthermore, he should have some options for where he will want to play after the season. JuJu Smith-Schuster on a possible reunion with the Pittsburgh Steelers exclaimed,
“I could see myself back here. Even today, this shows a lot, that I still have fans out here coming out to support me.”
