Josh McDaniels Thinks Very Highly Of Mac Jones

Are you a Mac Jones believer? If you ask former offensive coordinator and new head coach of the Raiders, Josh McDaniels, he will tell you that Mac Jones is awesome. The Patriots and Raiders have spent this past week together doing the joint practices. McDaniels made it very clear he’s a big fan of the former Alabama quarterback.

“Love that kid. I really do,” McDaniels said on Wednesday, via Dakota Randall of NESN.com. “And spent a lot of time with him, obviously, last year. Great human being, got a bright future.

“Really competitive guy that wants to do it right — everything, wants to do everything right. Those are always things that are difficult, you know, when [coaches] leave and you go somewhere else, and there’s gonna be people that you miss maybe more than others, but you’re gonna miss them all.”

McDaniels had a couple of other notes on the joint practices. You can read those here at the PFT link. The word on the street is the Raiders kicked the snot out of New England all week. Apparently, Davante Adams was a cheat code (who I just wrote a fantasy post on).

We’re all going to see what life is like without Josh McDaniels this year for Mac Jones. If Jones doesn’t progress in year two, there is going to be a lot of finger pointing going on. Has Bill Belichick lost it? Can the Pats actually survive with Matt Patricia dialing up the plays? Does Joe Judge have a voice in play calling? This whole thing seems odd and impossible to understand.

Our team is not high on Mac Jones’ fantasy potential for 2022. The uncertainty of the Patriots offense has a lot to do with it. Who are their receivers again?

I think all of us are on the edge of our sets to find out what this 2021 NFL Draft class is going to look like. Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, Justin Fields, and Jones have important years ahead of them. All of whom are on the clock in this modern NFL we live in.
