Jordan Poole’s dad sounds off on Draymond Green

All of us in some way, heard about the news of Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green punching former teammate Jordan Poole during a practice before the start of last season.

It was a surprise to many of us, as the chemistry from the players themselves seemed to be the strength of the team. Regardless, it was clear that there was a rift that affected how good that team was, causing Jordan Poole’s dad, Anthony Poole, to say choice words about Draymond Green over Twitter Wednesday.

I thought this whole situation was over, especially with the Warriors shipping Poole off to the Wizards in return for Chris Paul.

It’s not every day you see a guy sign a four-year contract worth over $100 million, only for that same player to get sent off to die in a place like Washington the following season; his lackluster play in the postseason certainly didn’t help.

Clearly, neither Anthony Poole nor Green is quite ready to 100 percent let it go. It started with comments that Green made regarding the situation on Pat Bev’s podcast.

“I don’t just hit people,” Green said. “Dialogue happens over the course of time. You usually ain’t just triggered by something that fast to that degree. This is a team. Ain’t nobody on my team triggering me in an instant.”

Quote via TheScore.

While Green does stand by the fact that it wasn’t just a heat-of-the-moment situation. He does acknowledge that he could have handled the situation better for the sake of the team.

“As I’ve admitted before, I was wrong in the way I handled it,” Green said. “For the situation, where we were.”

At least Green is taking some sort of accountability and not just endlessly ramble on Twitter to make yourself sound “hard.” I don’t know what Anthony expected to happen after that tweet. Did he expect Green to fly out and fight him in an instant?

Truth be told, this whole situation is crazy and I assumed we as fans were done with it, though people want to stay in the news and do whatever they can to stay relevant, especially when your son is sent to play for Washington with no chance of winning a championship anytime soon.

You may not like Green, but you can’t look at this and not say he won the whole thing. He earned himself a four-year $100 million extension, almost immediately after shipping off Poole and should be part of that Warriors core for the foreseeable future.

Maybe Green and Anthony Poole will mend fences, or maybe they do a paper-view type thing and go at it. I’m telling you right now, I, and many others, would pay good money to see that.

But for real, someone take Anthony Poole’s phone away for the time being.
