Jordan Burch 2025 NFL Draft Profile

We’re rolling with this edge rusher group as the 2025 NFL Draft inches closer and closer. For the sake of time purposes, we’re going to have a quick chat about Oregon’s Jordan Burch. Read it and enjoy his 2025 NFL Draft profile. As always, feel free to comment!

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 6Week 7Conference ChampionshipsRose Bowl

Burch, 23, was a five star recruit coming out of high school. The redshirt senior originally committed to South Carolina, but was initially ranked as the 17th overall player, fourth ranked DT, and number one player in the state of South Carolina. He played three years for the Gamecocks before wrapping up with two seasons at Oregon.

When it comes to Burch, we’re talking about a guy who is a complete underachiever. He was supposed to be this game wrecking defensive tackle. Instead, he’s a 6-foot-4, 279, edge rusher who did virtually nothing for 95% of his college career. It took his until year three to start at South Carolina and when he did, it was a 3.5 sack season. 2024, Burch posted 8.5 sacks, but he’s also at a really advanced age now.

When you watch Burch, he’s the type of guy who just makes you sick. Zero eye of the tiger. He’s never lived up to his recruiting status, and it just feels to me like he’s too clumsy to be an edge rusher and not nasty enough to to a real defensive tackle. At edge rusher, his athletic traits don’t play as much, and he’s not big enough to be taken seriously as a real defensive tackle.

Maybe this is just me, but it feels like I get a whiff of Dion Jordan vibes here, except worse. Burch has talent, but we have no evidence right now that he’s actually a good football player. He’s a late round dart throw similar to Byron Cowart when he was picked, once upon a time, praying that maybe the talent will click if the wake up call ever comes his way.
