John Rhys Plumlee 2024 NFL Draft Profile

Before I release my 2024 NFL Draft quarterback rankings, we have some depth QBs to get through. I’m not going to take all day here but UCF signal caller John Rhys Plumlee did crack the list. We’re going to talk about why next up in his 2024 NFL Draft Profile!

There is one major problem with Plumlee. He’s not a real quarterback. If you were able to use your critical thinking skills, yes, that indeed seems like a problem. It’s just the truth with the UCF quarterback.

The Hattiesburg, Mississippi native checks in at 6-foot, 200. He very well might have a better career if he were to play baseball. Plumlee, a transfer from Ole Miss, played baseball for the Rebels and UCF. It honestly might be a better career path for him. Plumlee, of course, lost his job at Ole Miss getting benched in favor of Matt Corral (who turned into nothing at the NFL level).

Over the last two years with UCF, Plumlee has a 29-16 TD to INT ratio while completing 63% of his throws. He’s just a flawed player for a lot of reasons. Not a natural thrower of the football and his best moments are scramble situations that won’t be there at the NFL level. I actually talked a bit about that in the Stock Report notes.

Plumlee was listed as a three star guy coming out of high school but that ranking should have faded quickly. The guy did absolutely nothing at Ole Miss for three years. When I say nothing, I mean he peaked as a trick play guy in Lane Kiffin’s offense. Has some athleticism to him running a 4.61 but he didn’t do anything to impress at the East-West Game.

John Rhys Plumlee is an undraftable player for me. His only chance to make it is if he can somehow become the next Taysom Hill. I wouldn’t say it’s impossible but that’s a tough ask.
