The Orlando Magic have added some shooting in the form of forward Joe Ingles. The two sides agree to a two-year, $22 million deal, according to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski.

Ingles, 35, spent the 2022-23 season with the Milwaukee Bucks. In 46 games he averaged 6.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. Ingles made his money from three as he shot 40.9% from behind the arc.
One of the Magic’s biggest needs in the 2023 offseason was three-point shooting. Last season, the Magic shot 34% from three which was 24th in the NBA. Ingles addresses that concern. At $11 million a season, the Magic were able to help address that need without breaking the bank. The selection of Jett Howard on draft night should help address that concern too.
Ingles’ salary will eat into the Magic’s available cap space. Still, the team currently sits with approximately $13 million in projected cap space, according to Spotrac.
Ingles will take the Magic out of contention to make a massive free-agency splash. It is still possible to add another solid bench piece, however.
Off the court, Ingles will present the Magic with a veteran presence. That is massively important if Orlando wants to improve upon their 34-48 record from last season. After spending a season with the Bucks, Ingles should be able to show the young Magic what is required to win in the NBA.
The Milwaukee Bucks have now lost two important role players from their roster. In addition to Ingles, Jevon Carter has signed with the Chicago Bulls. The Bucks did manage to keep Khris Middleton, but their bench has taken a hit.
