Joe Burrow Goes Radio Silent After 0-2 Start

Last year, Joe Burrow took the NFL world by storm with the magical Super Bowl run he and his Bengal teammates went on. This run, mixed with his lively personality, allowed him to quickly become a fan favorite within the social media world of the NFL. But now after two rough weeks and an 0-2 start, Burrow is realizing just how quickly the world of social media can turn on you.

Through two games Burrow has only mustered three touchdowns and four interceptions giving him a measly QBR of 73 thus far. He has quickly become the focus of many different memes and a host of different talk shows have questioned his ability to lead the Bengals and whether or not he is a true franchise QB. All these conversations are happening, when just a few months ago he seemed to have the media in his pocket with many people claiming he was a top-five quarterback.

Burrows’ response to all this? Simply delete all social media.

“I don’t have Twitter or Instagram right now, so I’ve seen none of it,” Burrow said in a Wednesday press conference. “We’re focused on what’s going on there, I’m sure it’s not a very good reaction. I think it will be a different reaction as we get going here.”

Burrow then took a play from his idol Aaron Rodgers’ playbook by attempting to calm and reassure Bengals fans.

“Let’s all just take a deep breath and relax,” Burrow said. “We’re not worried about it.”

While it is still early and there’s no need for Bengals fans to go into a full state of panic, it’s worth noting that teams that start 0-2 have an over 90% chance of not making the playoffs. In always tough AFC North, it’s safe to say time is running out for Burrow and his boys to figure things out.

So will deleting social media actually work for Burrow? Well, there’s no real clear-cut way to get an answer, but I feel that Bengals fans everywhere are sure hoping that’s the case. And at the very least, I think its probably best for him if he avoids the chatter around the league regarding his recent performances and instead focuses on righting this ship and getting his team back to the playoffs.
