JK Dobbins Breakout Proves The Fantasy Gods Hate Me

Fantasy Football is a lot like Poker. There are good and bad Poker players. At the end of the day, you still need the cards to fall in your favor. Even the best poker player can only turn chicken salad out of chicken you know what for so long. I truly believe I’m the best fantasy football player on the planet but the fantasy gods really have a funny way of showing they hate me. JK Dobbins is just another name to add to the list of fantasy horror stories.

If you haven’t heard, JK Dobbins is so back. Two games through the 2024-25 NFL Regular season and the former Ohio State product has 27 carries for 266 yards and two touchdowns. Yeah… he’s averaging 9.9 yards per carry and just flat-out looks damn good eye test-wise. I’m just unsure what I did to deserve all of this.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m rooting for Dobbins. I’ve always rooted for that guy. You could argue nobody rode harder. I absolutely loved him when he played for the Buckeyes. I told you to pick Dobbins in fantasy maybe 700 times? I used my first round rookie pick on him after his true freshman year at Ohio State. I rode so hard that my employees who don’t work hard enough roasted me for riding for the guy too hard.

This is the first year Dobbins isn’t on my fantasy team. It just hurts my soul. I can’t even brag about how good he is because of the first time ever, I don’t have him on my team. I’m in 3 leagues this year and I have zero shares of him for the first time ever. Before I had him in every league I was in four years in a row.

Maybe I should have just took him again but how could I after I rode for the fourth straight year and he got hurt again for the season one game in during the 2023 season? That’s after he was delusional about his contract despite not proving anything yet at a consistent rate in the league. Which reminds me, maybe this is just a moment where everyone should just have sympathy for what is really a Ravens’ problem.

Let’s be real about it. John Harbaugh is a jackass and it ruined his career by playing him in that meaningless preseason game. Who plays your starting running back deep into the game during the last preseason game? What a total idiot. That killed everything. Once again it’s the Ravens who do their best to try to ruin my life. It’s not debatable. If Josh Allen was on the team instead of Lamar Jackson, this city has more Super Bowl victories. Unfortunately, that’s not the case because the Ravens weren’t smart enough to hire me instead of Eric DeCosta. They will have to live with those consequences. I know I’ll get one of these jobs eventually, but that’s not the topic today.

What if Jim Harbaugh, the smarter Harbaugh, was Dobbins’ coach the whole time?

What happens if Baltimore is never dumb enough to play him in that preseason game?

I’m just not sure what I did to deserve the ripple effects any of it.

To close things out, I just want to list off a quick power rankings list of the most times I’ve been cheesed in fantasy. After you read this list, I’m not sure you can positively say the fantasy gods don’t hate me.

5: Mark Ingram sucks for three years, then becomes good the second my rookie contract on him expires.

4: (I think Dobbins slots in here at number 4)

3: David Wilson breaks his neck

2: Marcus Lattimore shatters everything in his knee and is never the same

1: Andrew Luck retires; I have him signed for $70 as a keeper
