I usually try to come up with clever titles for these posts on the individual prospects. With JK Dobbins, there is no title that can be used. JK Dobbins is just a 3 down workhorse that will be a lead back for a long time. Dobbins could easily wind up being the best running back in the draft and can do a little bit of everything. Let’s dive right into the JK Dobbins 2020 NFL Draft Profile.

The first thing with Dobbins is that you’re not going to take him off the field. There is no better pass protector in this draft than Dobbins. He’s been well schooled at Ohio State and is already a pro at this skillset. Dobbins comes in at 5-foot-9, stout, coming off a 23 bench press rep performance at the Combine. Dobbins is a compact strong powerful back that will hold his own.

His best trait is his ability to be a workhorse. Dobbins has been the primary back at Ohio State since his true Freshman season. Dobbins has 725 career carries at Ohio State averaging 6.2 yards per carry. This past season, Dobbins rushed for over 2,000 yards and 21 total touchdowns. The production is all there with Dobbins dominating at Ohio State in the Big 10.

Dobbins didn’t run at the 40 but I think he has more than enough speed. There were plenty of times were Dobbins broke off a long run. Fun fact about Dobbins, nobody had more rushes of 15 plus yards than Dobbins. He might be a big back but he can get loose and run. I don’t know how else to say it, this is a complete runner. Low compact that can run in and outside the tackles. From a body type, he looks like a young Frank Gore.

Dobbins also is sneaky in the screen game. He’s not a nature pass catcher. I’ve seen him drop more than one ball. However, he’s good in the screen game and can more than hold his own there.

At the end of the day, JK Dobbins is just a complete running back with a ton of talent. Given the college production, size, and skillset, you won’t go wrong here. Dobbins has more career yardage, Ezekiel Elliott, in college. Dobbins runs a little more low to the ground but if Dobbins outperforms Zeke, that wouldn’t shock me. I think there’s at least a chance that happens. This is a really good football player.
