Jimmy Butler Expected to Sign Max Contract Extension with Heat

All-Star wing Jimmy Butler is expected to sign a maximum contract extension with the Miami Heat for four years, $184 million, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

While no deal has officially been signed, Heat fans should expect Butler to suit up for the franchise next season. Butler averaged 21.5 points, 7.1 assists, and 6.9 rebounds last season.

The 2020 NBA finalists have not slowed down this offseason either, with the team re-signing shooting guard Duncan Robinson, as well as bringing All-Star point Kyle Lowry to South Beach. Robinson averaged 13.1 points per game on 40.8% shooting from three last season. Lowry, 35, is entering the latter stages of his career but is still one of the most respected floor generals in the league. Now locked into a contract, the Heat will be hoping to squeeze the same amount of production from the ex-Raptor – he averaged 17.2 points and 7.3 assists per game last season.

After a disappointing 2020-21 season that was capped off by a sweep at the hands of the eventual NBA champion Milwaukee Bucks, Butler and company will be looking to right the ship and make another charge for the Finals.
