After being traded from the Detroit Pistons only a few years back, Jerami Grant is staying in Portland. The young power forward is signing a five-year, $160 million deal to return to the Portland Trail Blazers, as first reported by Shams Charania.
Keeping Grant in Portland may have been the biggest offseason move so far for the Trail Blazers. The team traded for Grant last season, which was one of the biggest moves that entire campaign.
Grant became a huge asset for Portland, becoming its second-highest scorer, averaging 21 points per game. Along with his scoring, Grant was incredibly efficient for Portland, shooting around 48% from the field and shooting a career-high 40% from deep, marks which put him in an elite big man shooting category.
The Trail Blazers have so far aced this offseason. Bringing back Grant along with drafting NBA G League Ignite standout Scoot Henderson, all while the team can potentially retain Damian Lillard. The Blazers are building for the future right now, and it is looking great.
Grant is an exceptional talent that the Trail Blazers had to keep. The former Syracuse Orange star is also a force to be reckoned with on defense. Grant is able to defend multiple positions on the court. Being 6-foot-8 and having a lengthy wingspan helps supply is defense effort for the Blazers.
On top of his defense and scoring, Grant is very efficient. During last season, Grant embarked on something he has done once in his career, and that is achieving a 60% or better true shooting percentage. Jerami Grant is the perfect player for the Blazers moving forward.
