Jeffrey Bassa 2025 NFL Draft Profile

Oregon linebacker Jeffrey Bassa is next up on deck for the 2025 NFL Draft profile series. If you don’t mind, let’s agree to skip the fancy intro so we can get these draft grades fully published.

NFL Draft Stock Report: Senior Bowl (3), Game

Bassa, 22, was a four star safety prospect coming out of high school. The Salt Lake City native was ranked as the 29th overall safety and 5th player in the state of Utah during the 2021 cycle. He spent all four years with the Ducks.

The switch to linebacker happened pretty quickly. He started out as a safety in camp, but eventually got seven starts at inside linebacker as a freshman. By the second half of his sophomore year, Bassa was pretty locked in as the starter. The 2023 season was really the start of where he made a name for himself, earning Second-team All-Pac-12 Conference honors posting 72 tackles, 3.5 TFLs, and an INT. This past year Bassa capped things off with Honorable Mention All-Big Ten Conference, notching 54 tackles, 2.5 TFLs with 1.5 sacks, 2 PBUs, and 2 FFs.

Don’t have a ton to report on the Combine. Thought his movement skills were fine, but far from being a real world beater. Weird player to discuss. The hope on the high end of things is that he turns into a Levonte David type of Will linebacker who wins in the run and chase game. I don’t see him ever hitting that sort of peak but there are tools here to work with.

4.63 speed, a 38.5 inch vertical, and 21 reps on the bench is a nice start. He missed 11 tackles the last two years, which isn’t really a insane number given the skillset being a former safety. I thought the Senior Bowl performance was pretty decent, and his man coverage ability has some upside to it.

This is probably the downside. There’s no woah twitch element to his game. Never saw a guy who was overly instinctive. Not weak, but his frame is definitely not prototypical linebacker stuff, and he’s not insanely fast to make up for that.

I think Bassa probably got picked in the right spot. Round 5 was probably around the right spot. Someone who can develop into a starter, but highly doubt he will ever be a MFer high end stud starter.
