Jeff Saturday gave Eric Decker his fantasy football team, and Decker was not impressed

After firing Frank Reich last week, Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay made an unprecedented decision for the interim coaching tag by hiring former Colts center Jeff Saturday, who had minimal high school coaching experience. Irsay and the organization got slammed — including by former NFL coaches and players, one of the most prominent being former Cleveland Brown offensive lineman Joe Thomas — amid the decision, so we don’t need to rehash the reasons why. But in lieu of the job hiring, Saturday was forced to give his fantasy football team away.

He reportedly transferred his team’s ownership to former NFL wide receiver Eric Decker, who said the fantasy team needed “a lot of work”, according to CBS Sports sideline reporter Melanie Collins.

With that, you can’t help but wonder, 1.) How long has Saturday been doing fantasy football since retirement and 2.) wonder what type of a hand Saturday left Decker? Did he draft any players that are considered “fantasy busts”, like Kyle Pitts, Ezekiel Elliott, Russell Wilson or Diontae Johnson? Did he have any players get hurt, like J.K. Dobbins, Javonte Williams, Carson Wentz or Trey Lance?

A more serious question would be if he drafted any such Colts, like Jonathan Taylor, Michael Pittman Jr. or Matt Ryan, who played yesterday after being benched for Sam Ehlinger earlier in the season?

While it doesn’t matter now, the former would seem more realistic — Taylor totaled 163 yards from scrimmage with one touchdown Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders. That was his best performance since he rushed for 161 yards with one score against the Houston Texans in Week 1. Ryan completed 21-of-28 for 222 yards and one touchdown. Maybe he had *some* intention on doing his pal a few favors!

You can’t help but wonder. And what was his record/playoff standing with less than a half-dozen weeks left?

Again, it doesn’t matter now. Now Irsay put his *actual* coaching skills up to the test, at least for the rest of the regular season. Who knows, he might be better as a head coach than a fantasy manager? Or vice versa.
