Jayden Daniels was picked 2nd overall in the 2024 NFL draft. However, what does that mean for Jayden Daniels’ fantasy value for the 2024 NFL season?
Of course, he was drafted by the Commanders to probably be the starter for Washington, but when thrown in with the other fantasy QBs of the league, how does he stand? How high is his ceiling? When should you pick him in your re-draft leagues? We will try to dissect all of that right now.
There are some concerns about Jayden Daniels’ game that we should be worried about. Much like other dual-threat QBs in the league, his willingness to run can be cause for concern and him getting injured. He’s not the biggest guy in the world and he will be going against NFL players compared to CFB players. Those hits are going to pile on and hurt more. While he does have the ability to run, if he is able to avoid running and making passes out of the pocket, or be safe while scrambling, there’s more to like about his fantasy potential.
Looking at his weapons, he will have more weapons and a better line than what Sam Howell was dealing with. Daniels has Austin Ekeler with Brian Robinson Jr. at RB; Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson and Luke McCaffrey at wide receiver, plus Zach Ertz and Ben Sinnott at TE. That’s already a better situation than what Sam Howell was put in.
I love taking fantasy QBs early in re-draft leagues. Not sure if it is worth the risk of taking Jayden Daniels. It’s probably unlikely that Daniels will finish as a top-10 fantasy QB. So you’re looking at a top fantasy QB, how much value is that? I would take a quarterback in the first round, and start filling out the rest of your roster before I would take Jayden Daniels.
If you can get a QB, 2 RBs, and 2 WRs before getting Daniels, I think it’s pretty nasty. If you’re able to have Daniels as your QB3, I like that a lot. I’m not sure he should be trusted as a QB2 on a fantasy roster. However, he does have a nice upside to doing good things for a fantasy team, just make sure you have a backup plan.
