Jayden Daniels was picked 2nd overall in the 2024 NFL draft by the Washington Commanders. There’s some speculation on whether he should be or not. I was more of a Drake Maye fan during the draft process and had him at QB2. However, Jayden Daniels was my QB3. Now, what does that mean for fantasy purposes? Let’s get into Jayden Daniels’ fantasy football value for dynasty leagues for the 2024 season.
The Commanders drafted Daniels to start so that should not be in question. Sam Howell was QB12 last year with no offensive line and lesser weapons so the upside for Daniels is better now that the Commanders upgraded their O-Line and weapons.
He has Austin Ekeler, Brian Robinson Jr. at running back; Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson and Luke McCaffrey at wide receiver and Zach Ertz plus Ben Sinnott at tight end. It’s not as many weapons as you would hope, unlike the Bears weapons. This is still way better than what Sam Howell had to work with last year though.
If you know who I am, you know I like QBs early and often. It’s a limited position and getting a surplus of QBs is a great strategy for best ball and in setting your lineups league. The surplus allows you to trade for other pieces when others are hurting for QBs and you can charge way more.
For me, Jayden Daniels is top 5 in fantasy rookie drafts. The Commanders won’t be good and will have to throw to stay in games and Jayden Daniels has great running ability. He should be considered as a dual-threat QB and one of the better ones. Take him early in your rookie drafts whether you have a need at QB or not.
