Jalen Mills Predicts Breakout 2020 Season

Is Jalen Mills a new man heading into the 2020 season? Well, he does have a new position so there’s that. Philadelphia is counting on Mills to bring it this year. Mills is currently listed as the starting strong safety after playing corner for the first 4 years of his career. Mills is confident and is predicting a breakout season.

“I feel like at my position, my competitiveness and the position that I [know] this Eagles Defense is going to be able to put me in to make the plays that I know I can make, that I’m going to have a breakout season,” Mills said on 97.5 The Fanatic, via NJ.com. “I’m ready for it, so as far as when we’re talking about any type of other players and bringing in other guys, especially at the safety position, I definitely feel like I can hold my own.”

Jalen Mills is a very important player for the birds in 2020. The loss of Malcolm Jenkins cannot be understated. Jenkins was a steady presence on that defense. Mills has been up and down during his NFL career thus far. You’re putting a lot of faith in the fact that somebody who has never played safety can not only do it well but also replace Jenkins. That’s a tall task.

The former LSU product also has to stay healthy which is something he hasn’t done much of. Mills has missed 15 games the last two years. A foot injury landed him on IR in 2018 and then the PUP list to open the 2019 season with the same injury. Philadelphia also drafted K’Von Wallace in the third round as an insurance policy.
