What’s up guys Don Chach here to say something that I’m sure is somewhat premature but after last week’s game against Houston, it looks like we have a new front runner for the Heisman Trophy. Last winter, ex-Alabama star quarterback Jalen Hurts transferred to the University of Oklahoma after the Crimson Tide lost an instant classic in the National Championship game against Clemson and then Freshman QB Trevor Lawrence. At Alabama Hurts started his career as a freshman phenom winning the starting job in week 2 over Blake Barnett and there was no turning back. Hurts produced a historic freshman season under head coach Nick Saban. He threw for 2,780 yards and 23 touchdowns with nine interceptions. His completion percentage was at 62.8 percent, and he finished the season with a quarterback rating of 139.12. Jalen was electric running the ball as well. He rushed for 954 yards and 13 touchdowns, breaking the school single season record for rushing yards by a quarterback, surpassing Steadman Shealy’s previous record of 791 yards. However, the Freshamn was unable to lead his team to the National Title game, losing to Clemson in the Peach Bowl 31-35.

Hurts’ sophomore campaign kicked off where his freshman season ended. Overall, he finished the 2017 season with 2,081 passing yards, 17 passing touchdowns, and one interception to go along with 855 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns. He managed to lead the Tide to a 13-1 record and a National Championship birth against Georgia, only to be benched at halftime due to poor performance for now starter Tua Tagovailoa. Tagovailoa was able to lead the Tide to the victory while Jalen could only watch from the sidelines.

After being Tagovailoa’s back up all of his Junior year, Hurts is now at Oklahoma and was an absolute superstar in his first game. Hurts was near perfect Sunday 20 of 23 for 332 yards and three TDs. On his feet, he ran for 176 yards and three more TDs. HURTS IS BACK EVERYONE! I’m so happy for this guy man! He seems like a great kid. He could have left Bama before his Junior year but chose to stay and help his brothers on another title run. He deserves to be at the front of the Heisman conversation after the career he’s had and even though I hate Oklahoma I’m really rooting for him. Does OU get their third straight Heisman QB this year? Let the Don know what you think!
