If you’re expecting Jahan Dotson to do crazy things for your fantasy team this year, I have bad news to tell you. It’s just not going to happen, barring injuries, Jahan Dotson is probably the WR3 on his team behind Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel. Name WR3s that have consistent fantasy production and will really help your team, exactly. Throw in the fact that some don’t like Carson Wentz, and that can diminish fantasy value too if he plays badly. If you play in a dynasty or keeper league though, it’s not all bad if you have Jahan Dotson. His value in later years looks a lot better than his rookie year.
The Commanders not only have a solid trio of WRs, but they are also covering for later on. Terry McLaurin’s contract expires next year, and Curtis Samuel’s expires the next year after that. Meaning by year 3 of Jahan Dotson’s career, Curtis Samuel and Scary Terry might not be on the team, making him the de facto WR1 as of right now. Also, you’re not sure if Carson Wentz figures it out again and becomes good or Sam Howell takes over. That leaves some uncertainty, but if Dotson becomes the WR1, it’s a good time to invest in him now.
I can’t do a lot about Jahan Dotson this year. If your dynasty or keeper league is set for this year and you can stash some players, Jahan Dotson should be a part of that conversation. We’re not sure if Terry McLaurin or Curtis Samuel will stay when their contracts expire. That only opens the door for Jahan Dotson and his fantasy potential. But don’t draft him in your re-draft leagues cause well, I’m not sure if he’s really going to do anything for you this year. Make a smart investment and be patient.
