Jadeveon Clowney won the wildcard round game for the Seahawks when he knocked out Carson Wentz with this hit.
Philadelphia failed to score a touchdown and Seattle won the game without really having to sweat. It was Josh McCown the rest of the way.
Clowney has taken some heat for the hit. Nothing surprising there. He had quite the response for all of the Eagle fans who now hate him.
“Worst fans in the world,” Clowney said, via the Philadelphia Inquirer. “You know that, right? They hated me coming out [of the tunnel], they hated me going in . . . I don’t know why. I’m just like, trying to be friends. I’m a friendly guy.”
“I tried to tell them boys on my team. I said, ‘This team hates me. Their fans hate me for some reason’ They think I tried to kill Nick Foles,” Clowney said.
Philly fans threw batteries at Santa. They don’t even like themselves. Clowney isn’t really wrong. Any fan base that falls into the Nick Foles is better than Carson Wentz narrative is a terrible fan base. Give Philly fans this though. They’re passionate as hell and travel better than probably any fan base outside of the Steelers.
The funny part is Philly almost traded for Clowney this offseason. They came up just short when Houston ended up trading him to Seattle for pennies. Clowney has been a big contributor for Seattle has was one of the biggest reasons why the Eagles couldn’t score a touchdown.
At the end of the day, the Eagles only have themselves to blame. This is a team that passed on DK Metcalf for JJ Arcega-Whiteside. They deserved to lose regardless of whether the Clowney hit was dirty or not.
