Isaiah Davis 2024 NFL Draft Profile

Isaiah Davis is next in line for the 2024 NFL Draft Profile series. What does the South Dakota State running back bring to the table? What should we expect as he transitions to the NFL level? That’s what you’re all here for so I’ll get on with it.

I’m not even going to bury the lede. This guy sucks and he probably isn’t worth your time. I’m not going to sit here and pretend I’ve grinded tape on South Dakota State. I don’t get paid enough for that (yet) and even if I did, I wouldn’t watch it. I saw everything I had to at the Senior Bowl. Day one the guy stuck out like a sore thumb for sucking. By the time we got to the Combine, I refused to talk about him because it was pure vomit every time I watched him.

It’s borderline impossible to find the guy’s stats because he plays at the FCS level. Something to keep in mind given the fact that he played against poor competition and looked bad the second he was around good competition. For what it’s worth, Davis played “well” as a senior notching 1,578 yards on 236 while scoring 18 rushing touchdowns. He also added 23 receptions for 199 yards and a score through the air.

Davis, 23, checks in at 6-foot, 218. The 23 bench press reps are solid but the 4.57 time on the 40 isn’t ideal. Lacks any real burst or top end speed. He’s a pure power runner with no wiggle. Looks like he wants to bounce runs to the outside but doesn’t have the juice for it. Really not sure what he brings to the table other than having a decent frame and having somewhat of an ability to catch the ball.

I have an undrafted grade on Davis. When I say that, I mean I don’t have any interest in even getting a look during the preseason. He might be the worst running back in the draft on my list in this class. Sorry, not sorry for being harsh. Other draft people can lie to you but I will not. Some guys end up sucking and I’m quite positive this will be one of them.
