I would like to think at this point it is common knowledge that this Los Angeles Lakers team is doomed. Just look at the decisions this team is making as of late: the hiring of Darvin Ham as Head Coach, hiring Rasheed Wallace to an assistant role, and hitching their wagons to guys like Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis. The writing is on the wall that LeBron James and this Lakers franchise are heading towards quite a messy breakup, but a recent quote from James himself from an exclusive trailer from his UNINTERRUPTED show The Shop has sent social media into a frenzy.
Full quote via complex.com. For context, James was asked which current playoff team he would most like to pay for.
“It’d be Golden State,” LeBron said in the trailer above, exclusive to Complex. “I would love to get into a pissing match with Draymond [Green]. I love when somebody cuss me out.”
If you like to watch the trailer for the upcoming episode, I will drop it below.
If you are LeBron James, you HAVE to be looking for an out here. Some might say he has already enacted the first phase of his exit strategy. Logically, a return to the Cleveland Cavaliers makes a lot of sense as of right now. That team is young and has been built the right way where they should be able to find sustained success in the future. But this would be a full-on evil villain move from James. It also makes me laugh that James wants someone to cuss him out. All this tells me is that he is surrounded by yes men in Los Angeles and no one is actually pushing him. Man, he would get pushed like no other in Golden State. Plus, it does make sense he wouldn’t have to move too far as he would be staying in California just moving up the coast.
In reality, LeBron James probably won’t leave the Lakers. He will try and make it work in Los Angeles and burn his reputation in doing so. As it is constructed, this Lakers team is nowhere close to contending. His best shot at trying to get back to the mountaintop is leaving this team and joining forces with guys again a la the Heatles. Could LeBron James actually leave the Lakers and join the Golden State Warriors?
