We Were Introduced To Linsanity 10 Years Ago Today

Let’s take a trip down memory lane. The date is February 4th, 2012. The New York Knicks played the New Jersey Nets and Jeremy Lin, after playing only 55 minutes all season, would play 36 in this game. Lin dropped 25 points, 7 assists, and 5 rebounds to help the Knicks pick up a 99-92 win. This date will always be known as being the start of Linsanity. A span of 13 games in where Jeremy Lin would make a name for himself in the basketball world and catapult himself into basically superstardom among fans and set himself up for a long career in the NBA.

Let’s take a look at some of the key moments he had during his Linsanity stretch:

  • February 9th, 2012. Lin helps Knicks pick up their third straight win, kickstarting Linsanity on the national level.
  • February 10th, 2012. Lin drops 38 points on Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers in Madison Square Garden.
  • February 14th, 2012. Lin hits an iconic game winner in Toronto.

Jeremy Lin would help pull the floundering New York Knicks out of the bottom of the Eastern Conference into playoff contention. During his immaculate run of Linsanity, Lin would average 22.5ppg, 8 assists and helped lead the Knicks to a 10-3 record during that time. Unfortunately, the resignation of Mike D’Antoni on March 14th would start to spell the end of this incredible run. Lin would see less playing time as games went on, before tearing his meniscus and having surgery on March 31st.

As sports fans, we all remember watching this incredible run of Linsanity. A guy who rode the bench all season long to dominating the national media for a 13 game run. Jeremy Lin would go on to play for the Rockets, Lakers, Hornets, Nets, Hawks, and Raptors before going to play overseas. Linsanity will live on forever in the hearts and memories of basketball fans all over the world. So it’s only right that we celebrate it on the 10-year anniversary.
