Joe Hart made a shocking move today. The ex-Manchester City goalkeeper has moved to Tottenham on a free transfer.
He has been hired by Jose Mourinho to be a cover for Hugo Lloris. The former English international did medical tests on Monday to complete the move on a two-year £50,000 a week contract.
The 33-year-old has been training intensively by himself since leaving Burnley at the end of June. There were interesting coming in for Hart by Celtic, Leeds United, Blackburn Rovers, Derby County and possible abroad options in Turkey.
With Lloris enduring injuries and having lapses of poor form, Mourinho was eager to find a cover.
Hart has 75 England caps and had 24 appearances for Burnley over the last two years. This was a good snatch by Tottenham since he came over on a free transfer.
Tom Heaton had come in midway through Hart’s time at Burnley to cut his time short. But then he spent the 2019-20 season coving for Nick Pope. Hart made sure to keep in shape so he could still make a good move.
Maybe he’ll have more playing time at Tottenham.
