Harold Fannin Jr 2025 NFL Draft Profile

Some are saying this 2025 NFL Draft class is strong at the tight end position. For that to be the case, guys like Harold Fannin Jr have to turn into hits. Let’s talk about how realstic that is by reviewing the profile for the Bowling Green tight end!

NFL Draft Stock Report: 68 Ventures Bowl, Senior Bowl (2), (3), Game

Fannin, 20, was a zero star recruit coming out of high school and was mostly considered a linebacker at the time. It’s difficult to gather intel on what sparked the switch, but he’s an early declare who stayed at Bowling Green all three years.

It’s really two years of production here with the first mostly being a sit and learn year. In 2023, Fannin was First-team All-MAC and recorded 44 receptions for 623 yards with six scores. He raised his game to another level in 2024, being named First-team Associated Press All-American and MAC Player of the Year with 117 receptions for 1,555 yards with ten scores.

By the way, Fannin also has 33 career carries, which is a perfect segway for he real topic at hand. Fannin better go to a smart play caller who understands this isn’t a real tight end. It’s more of a combo H-Back/Big F kind of guy. If Isaiah Likely was more gadget like, it would produce something like Fannin.

I thought the Combine was just okay. Checks in at 6-foot-3, 241, and the 4.71 speed isn’t anything insane. 22 bench press reps are cool. Honestly, there’s just something about the way he runs. Whatever the opposite of the old scout term of pigeon-toed, that’s what Fannin is. I’m not sure how to explain it. It’s like side sideways shuffle while somehow running straight. If you watch the games, stock notes above, you know exactly what I mean.

The good news is the Senior Bowl quieted any concerns about how this is just a small school guy racking up stats. He more than held his own at the Senior Bowl. It’s just also pretty obvious that he’s not a real tight end. His hands are going to translate. Pretty good in YAC situations too. Just need to be smart with how you use him.

I like Harold Fannin Jr. I just don’t love him. He’s a TE2 on the roster with plus receiving upside. Somewhere in the round 3-5 range makes a lot of sense.
