Somehow, someway, this album managed to sneak in here as a nomination for the best rap album. God forbid that this atrocious album wins the Grammy because it was downright awful.
The lack of creativity in production has been a noticeable flaw of DJ Khaled’s recent releases in music. GOD DID has one beat throughout the whole album, which couldn’t even play into the strengths of the Avengers-level roster he accumulated for this project.
There should not be a single vote for this album.
I Never Liked You should be titled ‘I Never Liked This Album.’ Don’t get me wrong, it has one of the best songs of the year “WAIT FOR U” and “PUFFIN ON ZOOTIEZ”, but … that’s about it. Besides those songs, this album has nothing to offer and therefore, should not win the Grammy.
I would absolutely hate if the Grammys titled this the winner of the category. This album was simply bad. I don’t understand what is wrong with them at the moment but these first three nominees are horrendous choices.
You had outstanding albums such as Melt My Eyes See Your Future by Denzel Curry and The Forever Story by JID and somehow both of those got snubbed of a nomination for these pathetic excuses of albums.
This has to be the winner. There is simply no other way the Grammys hold onto what little validity they have left if Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers do not win the Grammy for the best rap album.
However, I will admit this album was a little hard to digest, and that is fair. But out of all of these, I am taking Kendrick in a heartbeat.
Conceptually this album is great, there is variety in the songs and production, and there are even some popular mainstream songs such as “N95” sprinkled about the album. All around this is a winner.
Pusha T released a perfect runner-up to Kendrick’s album. There is no other way to go about it. This album is far superior to the first three nominations but is easily outclassed by Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. Simply put it shouldn’t win the Grammy.
Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers by Kendrick Lamar took home the 2023 Grammy for the best rap album. This has been his third Grammy tonight as well as a three-peat for best rap albums (2016, 2018 and 2023).
