Goldberg set to sign with AEW following WWE Departure? — Rumor
Goldberg is one of the most iconic wrestlers ever. He was one of the most important and beloved wrestlers in WCW and its brief success, winning 173 consecutive matches, according to the company. Nonetheless, he was a defining character in a golden era of professional wrestling. Now, it appears Goldberg might have an opportunity to join the second coming of WCW.
Goldberg Set To Appear At All In?
According to Nick Lombardi of PWMania, Goldberg and Tony Khan, AEW President, have reportedly discussed him joining AEW. Goldberg last wrestled in February of 2022 in WWE and hasn’t been seen in a wrestling ring since. However, there are reports that he could be scheduled to wrestle at AEW All In.
AEW All In takes place on Aug. 27 of this year. Furthermore, the event is being held at Wembley Stadium, one of the most iconic and largest venues in the world — it seats up to 90,000 people.
Selling tickets is extremely important for an arena of that size. One way to generate more sales is to have a wrestling legend appear, so it makes sense for AEW wanting Goldberg on the card.
There have been some reported ideas of what Goldberg will do. Per Lombardi, one idea was that he would reportedly team up with fellow WCW legend Sting and Darby Allin to take on the Jericho Appreciation Society.
Whatever happens, it may be a good idea for AEW to sign Goldberg. We have already seen the success from Sting’s booking, so it seems like he would be a nice fit for the company.
