Giannis Antetokounmpo is a humble man. You’re rarely ever going to find him gloating about himself. AKA why everyone with a rational brain likes him way more than LeBron.
Recently Giannis sat down with former teammate Serge Ibaka. The two had a chat on Serge’s show “How Hungry Are You?”. Ibaka asked Giannis if he considered himself the face of the NBA. Giannis responded like only he would. The most humble way possible.
“I feel like I’m one of the faces of the league,” Antetokounmpo said. He added, “LeBron is. LeBron is still playing! Steph just won a championship, KD’s still hooping. Embiid’s killing. Jokic back-to-back MVP. Luka, magic. There’s a lot of people out there.”
Good for Giannis. Way to go Giannis. The truth of the matter is that he’s right and it shouldn’t matter. There is a lot of talent in the NBA right now and it feels like truly five or so teams could win the title if things break right for them.
Who cares about who is the face of the league? We should appreciate the greatness of Giannis while he’s still playing. Face or not, there is nobody else like this dude in the league. Giannis is going to be in the thick of the MVP race again this season. Milwaukee is off to a 10-3 start and Giannis is averaging averaging 31.3 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 5.2 assists to start the year.
It’s just hard to have anything negative to say about Giannis. His humility alone makes him one of the greatest superstars this league has to offer.
Side note: What if he had said Kyrie? Or even Adam Silver? Now that would have been a troll job.
