The Toronto Raptors eliminated the Milwaukee Bucks during the postseason last year. Hungry dogs run faster. The threat of the Greek Freak still looms large over the rest of the league. Giannis Antetokounmpo says he learned a lot from watching Kawhi Leonard in the playoffs. The two squared off and Kawhi had the upper hand. Giannis didn’t just lose and cry about it. He learned how he needs to improve. Quite a scary thought.

Antetokounmpo told Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports he learned some valuable lessons just paying attention to the Klaw:

“I learned a lot from him,” Antetokounmpo said. “He knocked down free throws. He was calm. When double-teams came, he was swinging the ball but getting it right back. He was aggressive. He was calm but he was on a mission.”

Kawhi Leonard is a proven champion. He knows what he takes to win. He’s the quiet assassin roaming in the night to kill you. If Giannis takes some of those lessons, look out. It sounds like he’s working on being a more efficient free throw shooter. Gotta knock down the easy ones. Being more calm and smart about the way he plays could also benefit him. Instead of diving head first into the defense, move the ball, great more easy looks. Giannis’ head is in the right place.

You gotta think the Bucks are the favorites in the East. Giannis Antetokounmpo is on a mission and Kawhi Leonard is out West now. Milwaukee brings back most of the team besides Malcolm Brogdon and Niko Mirotic. The 76ers have a lot more issues to worry about. Either way, the East is going to be really fun to watch. Giannis may not be done improving and that’s a thought we all want to see.
